AHWI is pleased to announce that it will help sponsor the 4th Annual Autism Awareness Festival in Forsyth, GA on Saturday, April 27, 2013. This festival, hosted by the Anchor of Hope Foundation, (http://www.anchorofhopefoundation.com) includes a 5K Trail Race, resource fair, food vendors, live music, children’s play area and much more. Registration Opens for First International Conference on Mindfulness
American Health and Wellness Institute today announced that registration is now open for the First International Conference on Mindfulness. The conference will be held May 8-12, 2013, at the Sapienza – Universita di Roma in Rome, Italy. Registration, as well as information on pre-conference and conference registration fees, is available online at AHWI first international conference on mindfulness registration.

AHWI Opens Discover Recovery
American Health and Wellness Institute (AHWI) is pleased to announce the opening of Discover Recovery, a community-based health and wellness clinic in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Initially, the clinic will focus on offering comprehensive occupational therapy services for individuals of all ages with conditions such as autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, mental illness, mood disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, degenerative conditions, swallowing disorders, and chronic health conditions.
Florida Disabilities Council Text
In the Healthy People 2010 Progress Report, the Centers for Disease Control reported that individuals with developmental disabilities are more likely to be obese and engage in physical exercise and other healthy behaviors less frequently than individuals without disabilities. To this end, the Council has awarded a grant to American Health and Wellness Institute (AHWI) to conduct a needs assessment among individuals with developmental disabilities, their parents/caregivers and community-based fitness facilities, such as gyms, parks and recreation departments, and yoga and martial arts studios
