Meditation for Kids

Registration Opens for First International Conference on Mindfulness

American Health and Wellness Institute today announced that registration is now open for the First International Conference on Mindfulness. The conference will be held May 8-12, 2013, at the Sapienza – Universita di Roma in Rome, Italy. Registration, as well as information on pre-conference and conference registration fees, is available online at AHWI first international conference on mindfulness registration.

AHWI Joins Facebook

AHWI has launched a Facebook page. The page will share updates related to AHWI wellness centers as well as news, information and resources on health and wellness. We encourage our partners and colleagues to "Like" the page and share the link with peers and others in our professional community.

AHWI STAFF UPATE: Latest news on AHWI staff members

Saakshi Arora, a rehabilitation therapist, has joined AHWI and will practice out of the California clinics; Monica Jackman, clinical manager of AHWI’s Port St. Lucie, Fla., practice, recently received a doctorate in occupational therapy from Chatham University, with a 4.0 GPA.

CLINIC UPDATE: AHWI expands presence in California

AHWI has expanded its presence in California to meet the needs of its growing client base. The Ontario office has relocated to Long Beach, where family-based therapy will be offered. A new clinic has opened in South Bay that will focus on individualized individual, family and group therapies. A third California clinic in Covina will focus on mental health assessments and therapy.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Dr. David Lanier building AHWI’s Atlanta clinic

A new member of the AHWI team, David Lanier, Ph.D. is working to grow the AHWI Atlanta clinic. Dr. Lanier, a clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience in private practice, is focusing on recruiting clinical psychologists and behavior specialists for the Atlanta clinic. AHWI CLINIC UPDATE: AHWI opens clinic in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

AHWI is pleased to announce the opening of Discover Recovery, a community-based health and wellness clinic in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Monica Jackman, MHS, CAPS, who joined AHWI in 2009, will lead the staff of therapists and counselors.

AHWI Opens Discover Recovery

American Health and Wellness Institute (AHWI) is pleased to announce the opening of Discover Recovery, a community-based health and wellness clinic in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Initially, the clinic will focus on offering comprehensive occupational therapy services for individuals of all ages with conditions such as autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, mental illness, mood disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, degenerative conditions, swallowing disorders, and chronic health conditions.

Florida Disabilities Council

In the Healthy People 2010 Progress Report, the Centers for Disease Control reported that individuals with developmental disabilities are more likely to be obese and engage in physical exercise and other healthy behaviors less frequently than individuals without disabilities.  To this end, the Council has awarded a grant to American Health and Wellness Institute (AHWI) to conduct a needs assessment among individuals with developmental disabilities, their parents/caregivers and community-based fitness facilities, such as gyms, parks and recreation departments, and yoga and martial arts studios
